Extra ‘MAN-power’ from Oberhausen and Zurich is needed in Region Asia Pacific, especially when it
comes to know-how transfer for the gas turbine ramp-up. Expats like Christian
Steinbach, Manager Engineering Gas Turbines, are supporting expansion of the
local service organization with their experience. The development of interfaces
with the Product Centers for both Service and New Sales is a key topic
alongside employee qualification.
After the Region’s targets were set in the Business Target
Agreement in Shanghai at the start of the year, the
strategy began to show results. The great cooperation between MAN PrimeServ (Shanghai) and
New Sales (Beijing) is reflected in excellent order intake figures for both
divisions, with the targets being exceeded by around 25 percent.
‘close to the customer’ in the truest sense of the word. The very good business
figures and our many successful projects prove that the Regions setup is
already established at Turbo.
The dynamism unleashed by international, cross-functional teams was
particularly apparent when a steam turbine rotor failed in an air separation
unit in Singapore. Customer Linde Gas Asia Pte.
Ltd expressed its thanks afterwards at board level for the extremely speedy,
expert assistance it received. “The Region is not short of project
highlights: next up is the HAITERKO 3-5 project, which involves the relocation
of three Mega PTA trains from the holiday island of Hainan in Southern China to
Ningbo in the east of the country,” says Marco Ernst, Head of Engineering
Asia Pacific Turbomachinery. The customer is also planning to purchase another
three PTA trains of identical design.
With a view to identifying potentialities in the Region to even greater
effect, nearly 50 participants from China, Taiwan, Japan,
South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia have received training
in ‘Service Cloud’ in the mobile PrimeServ Academy Truck in
Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur. Mikael Adler, Head of Turbomachinery Asia Pacific,
is proud of the results achieved: “We are ‘close to the
customer’ in the truest sense of the word. We are
focusing on customer visits in the context of PRACTICE trips and the new
customer forums, the first of which was held in South Korea. The very good
business figures and our many successful projects prove that the Regions setup
is already established at Turbo.”
