Hiring and developing the right employees is becoming increasingly important for MAN ES all over the world.
Marina Bebawy takes care of this task in Region MEA.

Our company is raising its profile as an employer in many parts of the world with its strategy of decarbonizing the global economy. It is not just young people who want to put their labor to meaningful use. This consideration is becoming more and more important for the professionally experienced too. When Marina Bebawy was looking for a new professional challenge in early 2023, our vision of ‘Moving big things to zero’ was a deciding factor for her job application. She has been Regional Competence Management Specialist for Region Middle East & Africa since April 2023 and is responsible for, among other things, building up the region’s pool of talent and upgrading employee qualifications. But the range of tasks she performs is much broader: “There’s HR strategy, trainings and personal development programs, the e-Academy, the Stimmungsbarometer employee survey, reports on various HR matters, … ” says the MBA graduate, enumerating her duties.

Stepping up communication

Marina works in our Cairo office and remembers her early days at MAN Energy Solutions well: “I had previously worked for various large industrial concerns, including in the automotive industry, and have experience in sales and human resource management. All the same, understanding our company and our business model was a challenge to begin with. Fortunately, colleagues in the region, and at head office too, supported me with great commitment.” She uses this experience as motivation for working to bring about improvements in talent management in particular. More intensive communication between head office and the IGCs is an important factor as far as she is concerned. “We know best what is needed in our region and should communicate these requirements clearly and frankly to the right people.” Marina has the full support of her superiors in this respect.

To be an attractive employer, we have to stress our commitment as a global company, be transparent in our communications, and offer appropriate development opportunities and career paths.

Positioning MAN as an attractive employer

Nor is she short of ideas on how to support further development of the employees in the talent pool. “Without exception, these are highly committed colleagues who can benefit the company in all sorts of ways. To be an attractive employer, we have to stress our commitment as a global company, be transparent in our communications, and offer appropriate development opportunities and career paths,” she says, setting out her credo. Helping to get this done is a great motivation for Marina Bebawy.
