MAN ES has defined its employer value proposition with a view to being victorious in the competition for talented skilled workers. With its pioneering spirit in advancing decarbonization and the team spirit of its workforce, MAN ES stands out from the crowd.

What makes MAN ES special as an employer? What do we stand for – including in comparison to other firms? What can employees expect from us, and what does the company expect from them? These questions have just acquired new relevance. For our Triple Ten+ ambition, we need a workforce that remains loyal to our company with its experience and knowledge – and we need new employees with new skills and qualifications. With our restructuring of human resource management, OneHR, we are already addressing key issues like career paths and further training, diversity and digitalization. We have established our own Recruiting Center for acquiring new colleagues. But it is also imperative that we create a vital foundation by becoming more visible as an employer and showing the great things being achieved by our company.

A Teamwork is our superpower – together we can show how proud we are to work for MAN Energy Solutions.

Looking for our unique selling points

There is already a skills shortage in the majority of countries where MAN ES is looking for employees. Often, a vacancy attracts just one or two people with the right training who are looking for work. What people expect from modern employers in terms of flexibility and working hours schemes, for example, is also changing – and not just among the up-and-coming generations. A new function was set up in Group Communications & Marketing in the middle of the year with a view to positioning MAN ES in this environment, with Isabel Schmid and Karin Römer taking on the role of Employer Branding Manager in a job share. In order to identify the unique selling points for our company to field in the competition for skilled workers, the pair first embarked on a search for clues. “We interviewed colleagues in all parts of the organization. Despite the wide variety of interviewees, a very clear, consistent picture emerged of what makes us special as a company and an employer,” says Karin Römer. “Firstly, there is the fact that we literally move big things, developing and building state-of-the-art, high-performance machines that impress by their size alone. We use our technologies to combat climate change and can make a really significant contribution.” “And we do all that with enormous passion,” Isabel Schmid adds. “We are united by the conviction that we can accomplish something with innovation and technology, and make the world a bit better.” Secondly, there are a number of deeply embedded characteristics in our corporate culture: “At MAN Energy Solutions, we develop high technology, we frequently do pioneering work and are at the forefront of innovation – but our employees always keep their feet firmly on the ground. That makes us incredibly likable,” says Isabel Schmid. “On top of which, our workforce has teamwork as its superpower,” Karin Römer adds. “Showing team spirit across frontiers and knowing that we will only achieve our objective by working together comes first. We are there for each other and help each other out – we are a big global family.”

First campaigns launched

With these messages, the two Employer Branding Managers produced an employer image film featuring MAN ES employees and launched their first employer branding campaigns back in the autumn. “Feel free to support us, share and pass on our film and ads,” says Isabel Schmid in a call to employees. “Teamwork is our superpower – together we can show how proud we are to work for MAN Energy Solutions.”
